  • “Warning: Disparities Begin Here: The Health and Well-Being of Youth in Minnesota” (The Urban Coalition, 2001) – Report presents data from the most recent Minnesota Student Survey (1998) for both public schools and special populations (alternative schools, juvenile correctional facilities and residential treatment centers). The focus of the report is to provide a baseline measure of health for adolescents of color in special populations. Topics covered include: sexual activity and pregnancy, violence, abuse, truancy and emotional distress.

These adolescent health areas (alcohol/tobacco/other drugs, motor vehicle accidents, violence, suicide, risky sexual behavior, nutrition and physical activity) have been identified by the U. S. Surgeon General as needing critical attention.
